Grocery Cart Challenge Recipe Swap Friday....
Good morning. :-) I know I haven't updated the blog all week, and I have 2 good reasons. 1) I wanted to leave the give-away at the top of the post so that everyone has a chance to enter, and I don't know how to do that neat thing others do to keep a particular post at the top. 2) I've been busy.
Due to the fact that I am fighting an ear ache, coughing up a lung, and my throat feels like sandpaper, this mornings recipes will be short and easy. BUT, I did say "recipes", so you are getting two of them. :-)
When we have seafood we make our own cocktail sauce and tarter sauce around here. None of that store bought stuff. Ours tastes better, and is cheaper than buying it. :-) We don't usually measure, so I am going to guess at the measurements. Yours may need a little tweaking. ;-)
Cocktail Sauce
1 C ketchup
1 Tbl. horseradish
1 tsp. lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste.
Combine in a bowl, mix very well, cover and let stand in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. The longer it sets the hotter (better) it tastes. :-)
Tarter Sauce
1/2 C mayonnaise (or Miracle Whip)
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 T finely chopped onions
1 T dill pickle relish
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and enjoy with fish or shrimp.

Thanks for the recipes! We do not have seafood often, but when we do I always wish for something simple.
Ooh this is great! I just bought Tarter Sauce for $3.50... and it was a small bottle. I'm using this recipe for sure. ~K
Yum! I want to have dinner at your house sometime.
Hope you're feeling much better soon!
Sounds great. Will have to try the cocktail sauce.
