BEES...

Yesterday we had a really weird thing happen at o
ur house. Let me explain. During lunch yesterday I looked out the window and noticed there was a group of "something" flying around outside. Upon closer inspection my sister determined it was a group of bees.

My brother decided to investigate and came back for the camera. THIS is what was "swarming" around one corner of our house.

Yes, Internet friends, that is a large colony of honey bees. We have been told that honey bees will often congregate in one place when they are moving to a new hive. While the scouts are looking for a new place, the queen and worker bees stay together. Why on earth they have chosen this one particular corner of our home we have no clue. From what we have learned this usually ends in about 24 hours. It has been over 24 hours, and we are ready for them to move on.

I took the bottom photo out our back door about 30 minutes ago.

I was given the names of two people in our area who keep bees, and I have called them to see if they will come and get them. I am waiting for a call back.

Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? If so, what did you do? I would really like to know, because I am starting to feel like I am in one of those really cheesy old horror movies.

Love,
Wendy Darling

My son would come absolutely unglued if that happened at our house. He is very afraid of bees. I'm not exactly comfortable around them, but he is beyond irrational in his fear of them.

Good luck in dealing with them. Maybe you will get some honey out of the deal!

I hear that only part of the colony is visible... The rest stay in a fairly hidden "secure" place. I'd check the attic, you may have one big honk'n queen living there. tee hee hee... =)

"Well thank you very much Jerry"... uh Terry. (Dave will get that "Good Neighbors" quote)

Well, at some point his evening the bees flew away. To where? We don't know, but they are not here, and we like it better that way. ;-)

BTW... I believe there IS something in the attack, but it isn't bees. Next time you are down would you be so kind as to crawl up there and take a look? ;-)

"Good Neighbors"? No understanding. Jerry would be my brother.

Ah apparently my muse had a little truth to it.

Now I would be glad to go up into your "attack" and check what your problem is if you could show me where the "attack" is. Now if it is a problem in your attic I would be glad to take care of that and it would probably be faster since I know where one of those are located.

=)
