Not a pleasant discovery....

It happened ya'll. I turned 39 on Sunday, and I was very content with it. I went to church, had fun worshipping. Came home, got some cards, got to visit with Princess Ladybug, went to Bible Study and then to a Sunday School party. It was fun. But then, today it happened.......

While waiting in the car to pick up my brother I looked in the "vanity mirror" to check how much of my makeup had "sweat off" at the fitness center. While doing that I found 2 grey hairs. :-( I stared at them for a LONG time thinking, is that REALLY blond hair? It has to be blond. My hair is naturally about 4 colors. Brown, red and light brown/dirty blond highlights and black.

I have VERY thick hair, and a lot of it. When I was really little my hair was a dirty blond color. My sister, Queen B, had very beautiful blond hair. I wanted my hair to be as blond as hers, but mine was darker. Still, it wasn't bad. The older I got the darker my hair got. So, the
underneath looks black. The top is a medium brown, and like I said, has the highlights.

But, today I saw them. They were buried under some hair, but I saw a "glimmer". I pulled my hair apart until I found the offending piece, and just stared at it. I tried to justify it. Telling myself it was blond. But, my hair always gets darker, not lighter. Then, I tried to decide, should I pull it out? I have always heard if you pull it out two will take its place. I don't want to do that.

Then, I almost cried, ya'll. I swear I did. Between having the shingles and a grey hair someone is trying to tell me something.

While trying to wrap my mind around what was happening I then saw a hint of another "glimmer." I immediately made my way to that offending hair and compared the two side by side. Exact same color. This doesn't look good.

My brother came out and the first thing I said was, "Does this look blond or grey to you?" He looked hard, and a SMIRK came upon his face. But, he said, "I can't tell." THEN he said, "But, you're 5 years older than me and I have been going grey for years, so you get no sympathy from me."

Oh yeah, he went there. I can't believe it. I may have to get Queen B to color my hair. Seriously. Oh well, Happy Birthday to Me. :-(

Love,
Wendy Darling

Now, come on. You know that grey hair doesn't mean you're old. Just look at Paula Deen. A headful of grey hair and she's still acts like a teenager. :-P

That's true. :-)

Honey, I started getting grsy hair when I was 30. Now, a few years past that, I have a lovely hairdresser that I really enjoy catching up with every few months.

I was actually excited when the first hairs appeared. I had blond hair as a child that got darker as I aged. I thought, I can dig gray hair. Now it will be lighter again. But blond hair doesn't turn the same pretty gray that dark hair does. I just looked dull. I was sad and soon reacquainted myself with Miss Clairol.

:::: Steps up to pulpit :::::

I would like to say that as someone who would probably not get the first grey hair in the hair on my head until he is 74 (Thanks Dad) this is not the end of the world. Now I do have a plethora (big college word) of not grey, but white hairs in my beard. Let's think of the contrast of colors I would have between my head of hair and my beard hair. Now with that being said, I shave my head by choice due to a wonderful receding hairline (Thanks Mom) therefore no grey hairs on the head.

You do have an option, Gilette Fusion razors are a wonderful option to shave your head with and with that said, no grey hairs.

There is the other alternative. Be thankful that you have hair. Have you ever seen a woman with thinning hair AND grey? Not a pretty sight to say the least.

God gave you this a badge of honor for the experiences that you have encountered in your life and this is His way of letting you "reflect" on the full life that you have had to this point and look forward to the future that lays before you. Be thankful you get to share those two little grey hairs with the world. They could be in your no-no regions, that would mean that well, you've aged not so gracefully. Be thankful for the grey hair you have, look at Jamie Lee Curtis, do you see her covering hers up? I think not.

I am Laslo, I approve this message, and do hold stock in Depends.

:::: leaves pulpit ::::: well, you were warned.

Poor baby. I get one or two every once in a while and I yank those bad boys right out!

But, since I have been coloring my hair every color in the crayon box (including brief forays into blue and pink), let me share my favorite hair color - Robert Craig. You can buy it on the internet for the same price as the drug store stuff, but it's sooo natural and so gentle - it's permanent hair color with no chemicals!!

I am eyeing Medium Auburn for my fall color (yes I change hair with the season, in addition to makeup, perfumes, purses, etc.)

Oooooh, Medium Auburn for the fall! I'm down with that. I say color it, get a short cut, put some mousse on it and let it go.

Excuse me while I go find my sexuality again.

I'll trade you the two gray hairs for all the hair I lost due to my thyroid and my surgery last year.

Gray is a lot better than bald. Sorry, Laslo. :P

Ya'll are right. My "pity party" is officially over. :-)

I went to the Youth Group last night to help serve dinner, and then I attended the concert and lesson. I felt 20 years younger just being there. :-)
